You may take the stance of a bird in hand is better than 2 in a bush, meaning you don't know what exactly will happen with work next year or the following year. Could travel be minimized and you may not make DM in 2017? If you choose to roll over can you predict that DM will be valuable to you in 2018?
Also, how important are those GUC's to you? Does the cost of a MR this year more than cover the GUC's in 2017?
My top travel destinations for work are:
MLI
RDU
MKE
DEN
NGO

RDU is hard to get an UG, I've been in the 20's out of 40+.
I will likely travel a few more international trips to S. America next year that will help me but can't count on those.
If I stay DM and rollover close to 40-45MQM I'm sure I could make DM next year. I go to Japan about 3 times per year and pretty sure I will get a trip to BOM next year. A;though having the GUC would be nice since we are planning on going to ABZ next year
