Thanks KLouis. Do any ferries run between Santorini and Rhodes during the off-season? I wasn't able to find one. Ideally, I'd visit both islands, but no direct flights and connecting through Athens seems like a major inconvenience.

I'd agree that it was a bit boring as a solo traveler, though it was also a great time of year to negotiate for deals if you showed up without reservations. If you're looking to explore on your own, I'd definitely recommend renting one of the mopeds or buggys available from numerous vendors on the island.
