OLCI upgrades were often available, once OLCI commenced, for cheaper than the bids required/prodcued by the upgrade bidding process.

Bidding was never a good way (for the passenger) of obtaining an upgrade - unless you got outbid, and then picked up a cheaper OLCI upgrade offer!
