AA let me change to the 08:15 flight on the same day with no charge for the return flight and when i spoke to the AA reservation agent he asked me (and it didn't register with me) if i wanted to change the outbound flight and get rid of the 5 hour layover in PHX. Can i call the platinum desk (lifetime plat.) and will they change the outbound flight to different routing on the same day with no change fee due to the schedule change on the return flight?
Normally, a 61 minute change or violation of minimum connect time would be required for a free change, but it wouldn't affect your return if it applied to your outbound.

There is a Platinum prioritized line to the call center; AA advertising to the contrary, there are no dedicated God or Platinum "desks" or agents.
