It won't work on an iPad has to be a mobile phone. On top of this, GoGo asks you to have Wi-Fi calling configured. That way it can verify if you're an T-Mo subscriber.
Although if have have an older device that does not support WiFi calling (iOS 7) then GoGo cannot verify if you're a T-Mo subscriber. One can still get the 1hr free with a T-Mo phone number. Have any friends with T-Mo?
Friend of mine tried this same thing on AA flight with her AT&T iPhone 6s running iOS 10. Wouldn't take the T-Mo numbers. She had WiFi calling enabled. Maybe I'll have her disable AT&T WiFi calling and see what happens.
