I've never used BX1B but I intend to get one before the end of the year when some of my points are expiring.

That was my understanding too--but according to the reservation agents, that hasn't been the case "for years." BX1B is now a subset of MileSAAver, and as of tonight, not one flight available through end of Sept 2017.
