As for the 772 lie flat aircraft, you would think that a separate routing of the new configuration would be initiated when UA gets what they would consider enough units converted. Right now, I looked and ORD/SFO/GUM-HNL are all shown with the 7 across configuration in May 2017 when it expected most of the 19 units will be converted. So, we'll have to watch the conversions and if and when UA goes away from floating the converted units on 772 flights to dedicated routings.
Don't these seats have to be pulled out of the current sUA 777s with IPTE that will be Polaris-ized before they can be installed into the sUA 777s that have the barco-lounger seats (also hand-me-downs) in front? That means that the rate of conversion depends on how quickly old IPTE 777s can be converted to Polaris, unless there is a stockpile of flat-bed J seats that can be drawn down.
