I agree. 10 days is 1 or 2 cities tops.

You don't want to be packing/unpacking all the time and rushing to catch planes/boats/trains. I've done this and it really sucked to be traveling so much. Felt like we didn't get to see enough of most of the places on the itinerary. Sucking up a full day or even half a day in travel to see too many places really takes almost 2x more time.

Did a 10 day trip to Singapore/Bangkok area a few years ago and missed some important sites in both. Of course, we lost 2.5 days just in travel from home there an back, so more like 7 days there.

Singapore is really expensive. Had very busy days there and don't regret it, but don't need to visit again until my salary is bumped 2x. Beautiful place with striking views. Nice people. Expensive.

Thailand will be in morning over the King's death this year, so the lovely, cheerful, kind, people of Thailand will be subdued. I would avoid this year. They've asked football fans not to cheer for their team - seriously - out of respect for the King. I suppose if you want to see an entire country morn, then going might be worth it. Last time I was in Thailand the red-shirts were killing people. I never felt in danger and look forward to returning to other parts of the country in about a year. I like to go different places on travel, not back to the same place, at least not as a destination.

Indonesia and Vietnam would be my targets. I've spoke with friends from both countries - never been to either. They told me to avoid all of Indonesia except Bali - "just go to Bali." Exact words. Think they believe I'm a typical traveler looking to lay on a beach and get a massage. I am not. A week in Bali doesn't appeal at all.

Appreciate the daily life happening in different cultures, even the not-so-pretty stuff of real towns/cities and watching people for an hour a day is great entertainment.

Maybe Myanmar would be better than Indonesia? Vietnam is still on my list.
