If you just want to go for food might be worth considering somewhere closer (although not necessarily faster to get to) e.g. Windsor, Bray etc. Fairly close by taxi or bus.

Depends if you can find somewhere near Paddington that you want to go to as you might need to factor in extra travel time on top of the HEX.
