I am thinking of using asia miles to upgrade one leg of my trip (MNL-HKG-FCO-MXP-HKG-MNL) from J to F to finally try out F product. What are the chances that me and my wife will be awarded the upgrade fo the MXP-HKG leg?

Do I do the upgrade online, through phone or upon check in?
