Hi everyone,
While replying to Axi's post below, I remembered something that would make life easier all round.
As you probably know, there are zillions of different fare types. Each fare type comes with it's own set of rules for date/time/rerouting changes etc.
When you call to make such a change, we need to identify the fare type. This is sometimes quite difficult, and may take quite a long time.
If you could all nicely ask your travel agents to 'please include the fare basis as an OSI in the PNR', this would dramatically cut the amount of time you spend on the phone, as we will be able to quickly identify whether we need to send off a message to our office in your country to advise us the fare rules (which generally takes about 24-48 hours) or access the fare rules here.
Just to explain, the PNR is 'Passenger Name Record', which is basically your ticket in electronic form in our computer system.
An 'OSI' stands for 'Other Service Information', which is basically a line of text which is entered into your record to advise us of special meals, passports, and any other relevant info.
Some agents already include the fare basis as an OSI, but they're few and far between and I'm hoping to spread the word a little to make things quicker for the both of us!
