Multiple Note 7s have begun to burn when turned off and not charging, including one on a Southwest plane in Tampa two weeks ago that was evacuated. The phone burned through the carpet and scorched the subfloor. Fortunately, the plane was not in-flight! In at least one case, an event has occurred in-flight.
This is incredibly serious, since the "fire" and "smoke" is all toxic. Consider that in the closed air of an airplane! This has happened with both the original and replacement Note 7s, hence the recall of all of them and the special boxes to be used plus the airport kiosks to return/exchange them.
