Have you tried an IT fare booked via Ebookers, Trailfinders or similar ? You have to book a few nights hotel (minimal cost if you dont use it) and varying cancellation and change charges depending on agent, airline and dates, but you should get to HKG on either BA or CX for just under or over £2,000 in J with full points and miles (actually D or I class).
