After reserving tickets (they are on hold- can't purchase until the 26th of October), I'm a little more confused than before:

One JAL agent assured me that OneWorld Emerald status is irrelevant on domestic Japan flights not coupled with an international itinerary, and that I'd only be allowed one piece of luggage up to 20kgs on an Ultra Sakitoku fare. Any overweight would be charged a 400-Yen fee per kilogram- which really isn't too expensive.

However, another JAL agent informed me that if I am taking my HND-NGO flight on a Sakitoku fare within 24 hours of arriving on ANY OW international flight (which I will be- on AA 27 from LAX), then the international rules apply and I would be entitled to two bags each up to 23kg. Another JAL agent located in Japan subsequently told me this isn't true and only domestic rules apply, and recommended I call AA to verify what if any benefits my OneWorld Emerald status would afford me on JAL flights.

So, I called the AA EXP line, and they told me that OneWorld rules would apply to any and all OneWorld flights- specifically to any JAL flight including domestic. The agent then said that I'd surely be allowed an additional 20kgs above the published 20kgs per domestic flight rules, regardless of whether I'm on a Sakitoku or Explore Japan fare. The AA agents said folks in call centers typically have no idea about how this works and that agents at HND and NGO would understand and recognize the Emerald benefits listed here: https://www.oneworld.com/ffp/emerald-privileges which JALPak also alluded to upthread.

So, which is it? Who is right?? FWIW, the JAL site makes no mention of OWE benefits for domestic flights, and their own agents have given me completely conflicting information.

Has anyone here had first hand experience with this?
