The cabin crew hiring model has changed away from hiring those who see BA as a career and towards the younger and fresher who see it as a job for a few years.
With the legacy cost base, i.e. paying a proper salary, BA was not competitive. Damned if you do and damned if you don't on this one. The only reason BA Gatwick is still here is that costs were torn back to what that particular market would support. Competing against EZY as a high cost full service legacy carrier palpably failed.
