isn't the point that these are very expensive people against the competition out there with which BA have to compete, so like many businesses they are removing the high cost people to replace them with cheaper ones, MF are as good but cheaper to have.
The end result is that costs will come down and make the business more sustainable in the longterm, costs saved could also be invested into the product!
I think sometimes on FT we forget that BA is a business and needs to manage its costs accordingly like any other business!

Which is all true, but BA has a huge and underfunded pension, uses one of the most expensive airports in the world as it's main hub, and has various other legacy costs. Yes it has to trim it's costs, but to compete on the price/service with the low cost carriers does not seem to me at least as a sustainable plan.
