Original routing was early morning SEA-JFK (3 hr connection)-LHR in First/Business booked with Alaska miles.
New routing is SEA-ORD (red eye with a 60 min connection) ORD-EWR (10 hour layover and an airport change) then the original JFK-LHR flight.
Does AA arrange the EWR-JFK connection or am I on my own and out of pocket for this?
There don't seem to be any other options for award flights that day. Should I just wait and see if anything better opens up in the next few weeks and then call to quest a change based on the extreme schedule change?
I now see that it is flagged on the Alaska site (only visible when I actually open the booking). If I call about the change and they can't find a good alternative, am I tacitly accepting the change and losing the chance to change if something better comes up later?
That's not a reasonable change. Call Alaska and I'm sure they'll work with you to find a better schedule, including working with the AA liaison to possibly restore your original itinerary.
