Assuming those Finnair (AY) flights book into I class (and they probably are), they will qualify for the normal Exec Club tier points (120 over 2000 miles, 40 under) plus 1.25xmileage. Check with your t/a they are I class flights and don't have a nonearning restriction on them.

AY are a pretty decent option. Good food, an excellent cellar (largely on par with BA F) and efficient service. The J class seat is very similar to that used by Malaysian and the old Cathay long haul version. HEL is a super airport to connect through (you will walk about 15 metres from the arrival gate, to the lounge and on to the departure gate). The long haul business lounge is pretty smart and stylish too (and is the place I first logged on to FT from!).

If you don't have time to do VIE/LIS run I would say this is the best option - though if LX's new flat beds are available to HKG that might change my mind. LH's certainly won't be for a while, and AY J beats WT+ on everything except journey time.

Oh, and welcome to FT.
