Anyone had any luck with a BA Holiday where the hotel voucher states a "free room upgrade"?

My voucher states "double room upgrade if available" and we have already paid for a better room than entry level anway. Being a BA holiday I can't log into my reservation on the hotel's website with the reservation number provided.

A double upgrade would be fab but I just can't see it happening on a 9 night booking in peak ski season. (Four Seasons Whistler by the way)

Any success stories or is it just bait to pull you in?
