On the email, I have been receiving the same email recently after each Mercedes pick up. The emails seem to be more for Mercedes marketing than for United.
I thought the greeting and MB ride were part of the surprise and delight that folks have been talking bout. This was my second ride. The first ride was at EWR from Terminal C to Terminal A LAX-EWR, then EWR-RIC. The agent at that time had a GS sign with my name on it. There was no follow up email. But his email is clearly MB marketing.
The irony of this ride was that because of the 20 minute early arrival, I was going to walk to the Turkish Lounge and check it out. I'll check out the Turkish Lounge next week when I have a 3 hr layover.
