If it happens again, call Delta and book the quoted fare over the phone.
They may not get the glitch, if they do, then they might be able to figure something out.
I had the same thing happen while trying to book an award ticket on DL.com. I'd put in my card details to pay the taxes and it'd kick me out to a search page that would pull up the same flights (for the same number of miles + taxes), lather rinse repeat. I tried a different browser, "private" mode, and even came back 5 hours later. Same result.
When I called in, reservations couldn't book it at any price and instead offered me a much worse routing with an overnight connection at JFK for more miles. I booked an award ticket on UA instead.
