On the A340-300, the bathroom is immediately in front of 1K, making it prone to smells and increased foot traffic. My seat of choice is 1A. Even if there is some light from the galley, they give you eye shades. 2A is my seconf choice. In any event, if flying solo, the key is to avoid the middle seats. You loose the ledge that is between the A and K seats (a good storage space) and you are right next to someone else.
