This is sort of true. Simon Malls have been getting hit with a lot of stolen/cloned Citi cards so corporate sent out an email saying to be extra cautious/not accept them unless the mall is absolutely sure the card is good.
My mall said no Citi for anyone who hasn't been a long time gamer.
Same story here. Was an employee I didn't recognize, training a brand new employee, so everything that possibly could be was being enforced, e.g. no rubber banded gift cards. It's been a long time since I had to pull them out of those @#$%!@#$ sleeves, what a PITA.
