Given your position, and the fact it's a higher priced Y ticket, I would look to either pay the fare difference at the airport or an AUP (see Dashboard) if there is a special price for the route, which may be cheaper than a full CW ticket and will give you the higher TP/Avios. BLR is a good route for this, it's often oversold in WT. Or upgrade with Avios to WTP (no extra TPs for that) which can be done on some corporate bookings.
It sounds like
matt_likes is happy to pay whatever to get a J class seat. In that case, as you say it's a Y flexible fare, once the ticket is issued, he should be able to use the "Upgrade" function on manage my booking, even if there isn't a special offer?
Or does this not work if the ticket is booked through a travel agent?
