2 seats same flight different classes

Newbie here, please don't flame me.

My company has a new travel policy that requires me to complete two 'penance' round trips in Y before booking business class travel. Having always travelled long haul business class this is not a happy prospect.

Having easily made BA gold for many years I also find myself in a situation when for the first time I may not get enough points to retain this so I need to maximise my earnings as well as my comfort.

I have to make a trip from LHR to BLR and my question is if I book 2 tickets one in Y (fully flex - paid by company) and 1 in J (paid by me) and get both boarding passes scanned would it be possible to maximise my TP earning.

I know that people sometimes book 2 seats in the same class for musical instruments and other reasons. Do you think that it's possible in 2 different classes?
