Word is that the mandatory nitrogen-inerting system upgrade for the fuel tanks of the 15 p.s. 757-222s has been canceled, meaning they'll be retired by the end of 2018, same as the 747 fleet. The larger 757-224 fleet will remain in service and recently received some life-extension and reliability improvement mods.
