Thanks for the insight. At the very least, I'm looking for lounge access. Many of my trips would be covered, but I'd have to choose the lowest fares available. Hence why I'm looking at the "easy" ffp on star alliance (e.g., TK, OZ).
If I'm flying from MEL to North America/Europe 4x a year, do you not think that I would hit the threshold?
