Cheerily saying out loud "Whee! I haven't had this for a while!" as the aircraft lurches may not endear one to the nearby passengers who have just dropped their drinks into their lap

I only object to turbulence if it spills my drink or makes it hard to read my book or iPad. Then it is just boring.

747s and A380s are, overall, very stable, but some parts of the world have very high wind forces and then there's no way to avoid some shaking. In my experience the North Atlantic can be particularly prone to this, I have spent some flights where most of the time we were being thoroughly vibrated the whole way over and arrived rather early due to tailwinds in the 100kt range, there's not a lot anyone can do about that (now that the fast plane is retired). On a shorter timescale the ITCZ around 15 degrees north and south of the equator can give you a good shaking on the way past.
