Another thought that crossed my mind was the Sandals Resorts. At one time, they refused to book holidays for gay and lesbian partners. They later changed that policy, I believe, but only after pressure was brought to bear from the Velvet Mafia.
So it's rich to talk about gays wanting to be separatist, when homophobes involved in the travel industry are the ones who seem to want to ostracize gays and lesbians from "heterosexual" resorts, like Sandals or Club Med. I would bet that while Sandals officially doesn't discriminate any longer, it's the unofficial policy to make gays and lesbians feel as unwelcome as possible.
So, gee, I wonder why gays and lesbians would feel like they're not wanted at resorts not expressly gay?
