If having that pool available is going to make or break the enjoyment of your trip, I would cancel and pick another hotel. To me it wouldn't be that big a deal, and the compensation they are offering would make me happy. But there are plenty of other wonderful hotels on Maui, even in Wailea, where you wouldn't have to see that closed-down pool every day and potentially feel regret about your choice.
