The MCT represents a carrier's willingness to accept the responsibilities associated with rebooking passengers and reuniting misconnecting luggage. Thus, BA sets what it is prepared to accept, understanding that if it accepts you and your luggage at GLA, it is stuck with you.

Generally speaking, it is far faster and easier for luggage to make it from one aircraft to another than it is for passengers.
