If it was GATU I would also be surprised. If this happened a few days after entering service then I guess it may have been overlooked, but it's now been flying 2 months. I suspect there was a fault on the mini curtains over the seats, the surrounds sometimes get stuck in the runners, and so they temporarily take it off pending a swap of a replacement. There are a few A320s which don't have a curtain, there isn't a top rail available for it, and there are some cabin configurations where the curtain can't be used, but these would be very much the exceptions on the whole. I would say 99% of my flights have a curtain divider for CE, at least over the seats, and more than 95% have the aisle curtain.
