Update: it took 3 times longer to walk to our gate than to clear security. I was struck by how much capacity YVR has now and how very few people there were in it. Our flight left from the very last gate at the end of the "flights to the U.S." concourse and only about 1 in 6 gates that we walked past had any sign of life, let alone a departure on the board. We also walked past a large number of identical shops with almost zero customers in them.

YVR is an airport desperately in need of people movers...
