This seems to be a perfect question for this forum... not sure why you think it belongs in OMNI or TravelBuzz.
I believe when people post here (for the most part) they are looking for advice on how to better enjoy their travels. It may be looking for areas that cater to gays, areas that are gay friendly, or even places to meet other gay people.
If this forum did not exist, there are many other places to post questions that currently show up here. Could be Singapore forum, TravelBuzz, Omni... just to name a few.
I cannot take the argument that "gay travel" is detrimental to future generations of travel. That is just plain silly.
When I travel, I have the right to be in whatever environment I wish to be in (unless it is illegal). Just as people take family cruises, singles cruises, ethnic cruises, etc... I have the right to take gay "related" trips... if I feel more comfortable being in a "gay" environment so be it. (UNDERSTAND, I have never taken a gay vacation.)
As such, it is nice to have a place on Flyertalk to come and ask questions in a "semi" safe forum... where many people are like-minded. As we have seen in OMNI, any post that is gay-related starts bringing out many trolls and others who are intent on hijacking any gay post. Same as happens for religious, political and other posts.
I think we can learn much from how the Women's Forum has evolved over the past year.... as you can see if you visit that forum, they talk about much beyond Women's Travel.... and they welcome everyone to visit.
I hope we never lose this forum... it is valuable. Many people made this forum the first place they posted on Flyertalk... I like to think they "came out" as a result of this forum and our "family".
