I doubt that TG has staff at HKG such that they can retrieve and retag for you. Maybe if you're flying F HKG-BKK.
I connect on separate tix all the time (twice in the past week, in fact, once at HKG, once at BKK) and I would not do this checking bags with a 2:10 connection. What's your contingency plan if you miss? Does your TG ticket retain value if you no show?
