Is there a good reason to check in online?

I'm staying at a Courtyard, which is urging me to check in online 24 hours ahead. I'm very particular about room location, and usually find online checkin to be frustrating as you can't select a specific room, or get advice about rooms from the front desk staff.

Is there a good reason to use the online checkin capability, if you're arriving at a reasonable hour?
