Hello jkirk -- hope you will share some insights about your Carneros stay. Also hope you are restored to full mobility and no persisting health issues. We are considering a four-night respite there in January for our 45th anniversary. We're booking a suite.
We love Auberge and are abiding there four nights over the December holidays (hope the renovation construction is completed), in a deluxe garden suite. We gave them a generous budget to tart up the room festively with tree, greens, flowers, etc., we'll see how they do.
Not high on Calistoga Ranch (needs refurb) nor on Farmouse Inn (service was snooty there at dinner); the New England ethos of Meadowood is distinctly unappealing (it's California for pete's sake), and Kenwood is too close to the highway. Although that Glen Ellen area is gorgeous, more so than most of wine country which is saying something. Rooms at Le Mars are too small.
We tried to book the Boathouse at Manka's in Inverness / Point Reyes but were told they aren't accepting 2017 bookings for their waterfront properties. Which leads me to wonder if they are renovating or selling?
