I last flew AA many years ago. They did not deserve my custom. Ditto United. Both would need to fly me free to get me back to them. (Although I did have some good flights with United in Asia. Just not over the pond).
I didn't fly AA for almost 20 years and did so with trepidation in 2013. I haven't looked back and as others have said going west its AA777-300 and east CX or QR I have a planned trip to Asia and the fare is £350 higher on CX but frankly £175 each way extra to avoid cramped world is money well spent.

Over the summer I took the AA transcon JFK to LAX in J ( did it in F the year before) it's an outstanding domestic product which AA would well to extend across their network. Compared to LHR IST PFO or LCA it makes BA look 3rd world let alone 3rd class
