Understand: a Southwest flight on Sep 5 encountered a "new, improved" Note 7 with green indicator meltdown.

If anything USDOT is likely to harden, not soften, regulations for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 whether it is old, new, etc.

Do everyone a favor and opt for safety: shut your Note 7 down and do not turn it on until you are back on the ground.

Today, AA doesn't discriminate - the announcement prohibits plugging in Note 7s to charge or operating one on board.
