Don't take an untrained animal camping. Not fun for you, not safe for the puppy, not kind to anyone camping near you.

I've seen plenty of dogs at campgrounds. The quiet, obedient ones nobody objects to. The barking, lunging ones who chase every bird, squirrel and child are universally hated and sometimes manage to cause injury to themselves and other creatures, human and animal.
