Hi all

We are traveling from JFK to HKG on Cathay, and then onwards to VTE via BKK on Thai. The Thai flights are on a different ticket. We only have 2hrs 10mins between arrival in HKG and departure to BKK.

Am I correct in assuming that the chances that Cathay will check our luggage all the way through to VTE are low?

If so, will we need to clear immigration, collect our luggage and re-check it? I've seen reference to transfer desks but I assume these are only useful for passengers whose luggage has been checked through?
