In all seriousness, while annoying, I doubt you'll get much for complaining. I'm assuming they were able to wrangle you up some snacks of some sort being served (or purchased) in the main cabin. If you got some form of food, you'll get a few skymiles if you complain. If no food at all, then maybe some more miles. I doubt a voucher or partial refund will appear, but who knows.
Pretty crummy situation though. I've never had it happen where they ran totally out.
As a data point, my wife and I got 10K miles each when we flew SFO-SEA and no meal was served on the flight, despite it being listed as a "Dinner" flight and one of the exception routes for meal service. The flight simply wasn't catered with meals. All we got was pickings from the FC snack basket.
TBH, I'm not sure what's more insulting - forgetting to cater the entire flight or not catering enough meals for the FC cabin so that only some of the FC pax got to eat while others had to sit there and just watch/smell them eat.
