It is totally unnecessary to fly BA. Even transiting to a less convenient airport often comes out less expensive.
I too used to fly BA for work and now have a bank of Avois to spend. But I'm doing my damnedest to spend them elsewhere. (Not being British, the food and crew are not comfortingly "homey" enough to keep my custom with a company that openly and clearly would prefer I just bought tickets and didn't add the bother of actually flying on their planes).
