As someone who has no status, points etc and only flies easyJet once in a blue moon I was more than happy to pay to book the seats I wanted for our family trip to Canada next year. Those were in the UD on the 747.

It's all about what value you put on things and if you want to wait until check in and take the gamble on what seats are available, but I wasn't so was happy to pay. I look at is part of the total cost rather than an extra tax begrudged by some.
