Perhaps someone can clarify something for me.

I have a $200 bump voucher about to expire. From what I read, I can take it, find a refundable fare around that value and purchase it. This gets rid of the soon to expire bump voucher.

Later on, I take the refundable ticket and do what with it?? Is it directly converted into the real nonrefundable ticket that I really want to use? Or, must one convert it into an MCO first and then convert the MCO into the ticket really desired.

The one time I tried this, I converted the bump voucher into refundable ticket. When I took the refundable ticket to the ticket counter to purchase a non-refundable ticket for where I really wanted to go, the agent made some snide comment like "Was this (refundable) ticket purchased with a voucher?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
