yes, and IHG aren't disadvantaged by this, because the points, and stay credits only go to one party. no additional cost to them, just more business, they may otherwise not have been given.
Honest members should care about this however because it wobbles the numbers, it means undeserving non-status customers competing for upgrades (under the fraudulent status holders account), it potentially means a higher average stay/night/spend/make it up as they go along number for status renewal.
This type of fraud really isn't in the interests of anyone honest.
