The up side of having a UK address is you would only have to fly 40000 qualifying miles on Air France to earn elite-tier membership (F+Rouge), The down side is amex gold in the UK does not earn qualifying miles toward elite-tier membership, but they will give 25000 after your first purchase on a new application.
