I got my first ever "Enhance your experience" buy up offer at check in on my corporate fare from DTW to PEK two weeks ago.. for the low low price of $999! I should have taken it; he was a very large gentleman that took up half my seat and made that 14 hour flight pretty unbearable. The return was much more tolerable, even in standard Y.
Not sure what the base fare was, but $999 seems very reasonable to me for TPAC. I can't recall the last time I saw a TPAC in J that was less than $5K r/t. Sorry about the seat-mate though; that's a long ride to China and probably a fun follow-up trip to the chiropractor to have your back adjusted.
