Just wondering if any staffer (or someone else) would be able to shed some light on the 'R' class upgrade bucket that is referred to on the NW upgrades given out to AS elites this year?

In the small print, the cert reads: "Booking Class: F-class (Mar. 1-May 31, 2004 only); R-class (Jun. 1-Feb. 28 2005 only)."

Is Northwest moving towards auto-upgrading AS elites who have requested upgrades on the day of departure? Does anyone have anymore information about this 'R' class?
