To be fair, I don't know ANY carriers that have this feature on their website.
You might try checking individual carriers' websites directly. I know that ANA's website allows you to view upgrade availability once you enter in your ANA FF number. But, it's true that we don't currently have an easy way to check award availability on Star Alliance carriers via united.com.
